How Riley reads the board

The best price on the moneyline is not always the price we bet. It is the one we mark green so you can see the market. When two books diverge by five cents or more on the same side, that is where a value bet lives. When they line up inside a nickel, the market has agreed on the number and the edge is elsewhere: the total, the puck line, a prop.

Tonight's standout number is the Toronto Maple Leafs at home to Boston at -115. Every other book on our tracked list has Toronto at -125 or shorter. That is a full nickel of value. It usually gets steamed off inside an hour of puck-drop, so it is a limit-order shop, not a market order.

Broadcast notes

Leafs versus Bruins is on Sportsnet ONE in Canada and ESPN+ in the United States. TSN carries the Saturday game only. If you are in Alberta and want the Oilers on the west coast feed, you need Sportsnet Oilers, not Sportsnet Pacific, unless you switch to the TNT US call, which is available in Canada through the ESPN+ pass this season.
